I did a search to see if this topic was previously discussed but returned nothing. Hope someone can answer this question before I call for a technician. I have QRS Petine system installed on my 5'3" Young Chang. On some CD's there are abnormally long pauses. I thought at first it was a flawed CD but some CD's that previously played perfectly now are having the same problem. Thank you.

How long is the abnormally long pause? When do the pauses occur? Do you mean they occur between songs, or at some other time?

Is the system set to play the songs straight through in order, or is it set to 'random' mode when playing?

Thank you, The system is at the factory setting - set up to playback the CD start to finish. It seems the longer the system has been in use, the more frequently the the pauses occur, sometimes up to 5 seconds long. They occur in the middle of the song, in the middle of phrasing. The pauses usually hold a key or keys and they remain depressed during the pause. Other times, usually at the end of the song, the sound persisits, but the key returns to the keyboard position. It is way beyond "artist's interpretation." I did have a pedal solenoid installed last year, and it greatly improved the overall sound and this problem did not occur immediately following installation of the solenoid. It seems to be getting increasingly persistent, and the disc tray makes clicking noises as the pauses increase in frequency and duration. I appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you, Hope this gives you more information that will give you an idea about what is causing this, or more importantly - what is required to fix it. It could be a problem with the CD drive itself, which is the most common cause of CD problems on players with a CD drive, but the symptoms aren't typical in this case. Another cause could be a problem with a solenoid. Most players have temperature sensors to cut the power to the solenoids if the get too hot. The pause might be a temperature sensor cutting in, the offending part cooling down and the power coming back on. either way, it might be time to call an engineer in.

Thank you for your thoughts - The technician I spoke with agreed with your 2 possible theories. They will come out to take a look at it. Thank you again!
