First, I have received answers and solutions to each topic I have posted in this forum. I appreciate your expert assistance. Now, I love the "true" sound of my petine system - the hammers striking, not a recording. Under almost every situation, I want that normal volume produced my  Young Chang Baby Grand - the louder and truer, the better. I recognize that I do have some volume adjustment with the volume control on the remote -master/audio/piano. There are occasions when I want the "true" sound at reduced volume as in allowing normal conversation with the piano sound in the background. With my present set-up, I'm unable to achieve that goal. I read the term "whisper soft volume control" - is that standard, an accessory ? Or does a "sound tone generator" accomplish this? I still want the "action" of the hammers, but at reduced volume if that is possible. Your replies are greatly appreciated.

I may have been the person using that term. To achieve this, several things must occur..

1) the pianos action must be in very good regulation

2) the piano should be voiced--so that quiet playing sounds 'softer' not just a reduction in volume

3) the installation must have properly matched plunger throw, to the keymovement, and there should be little to no 'lost motion' between the tops of the solenoid plungers and the bottoms of the key

4) the system must then be calibrated the piano, using either a QRS test box, or the built in calibration procedure on your Petine

Sometimes, even if the first three conditions are not optimal, performing this calibration procedure can make a significant procedure. It is described in detail in the manual for the Petine.
