I just just became a member.I know nothing about piano's, but i'm trying to help my boss. he is interested in restoring a vertical grand french repeating action piano located in his office. That's all i know right now about it. The piano has three small pedals for normal playing and two large pedals that fold down over the three small pedals for auto play. It has a giant drum located in the center of the piano about eye level, three levers just below the keys for various functions. I will be able to provide a picture next wk, and open it up for futher inspection. I would love any info in reference to this instrument. Much needed help!

"upright grand" is a marketing term, in fact a contradiction. It's an upright. "french action" merely refers to the design of the action, not it's origin. Evidently it is a player piano.

You would have better luck finding out more about this instrument if you went to www.foxtail.com That is a site for Mechanical Musical Instruments. There is tons of information on player pianos in the archives there.
