I have just come back from a call on a player piano and was unable to locate the problem. Here is the problem: before moving the piano everything was fine. After moving the piano all mechanisms are working but the keyboard is not being activated. In other words, the roll is moving but the keys are not moving. I checked all connections and they are good and air is moving but the keys are not being activated. Any suggestions will help!

kolbtwin,

Have you checked to see how much pressure (suction) you have at the tracker bar?

Also,
I've seen cases where the valve that controls the pressure between the re-roll and play functions gets hung up halfway in between.
If this happens, it isn't re-rolling but it isn't playing either.

Sometimes grabbing the rod connected to the re-roll lever and moving it manually uncovers this problem.

I'm not a player expert, so maybe someone else has some other ideas.

Or...

Old Players have 2 main hoses to run the show.

One large hose, usually on the left coming up from underneath, that operates the keys

A second, slightly smaller hose coming up from underneath that runs the roll mechanism.

I am willing to bet the main trunk on the L has fallen off during the move.

Remove the kick board, look up from underneath on the left.
