Want a free piano? Hi, I’m a new guy here. My folks have a player piano that belonged to my grandparents. I remember pumping the pedals on that piano when I was a kid at my grandparent’s house in Colorado. My grandparents are long gone, and the piano is at my folks’ house in Torrance, California (I’m in Seattle). They would like to give the piano away, along with some boxes of music rolls (probably 50-60 rolls) to someone who would like to restore it. The piano is painted white, but I believe there is a beautiful finish (cherry?) underneath the paint. Why my grandfather painted it, I don’t know. The last time it was played was probably 10-15 years ago, and it did work at that time. It probably wouldn’t take a whole lot to restore it. If someone is good at refinishing, they could probably strip the white paint off and restore the original finish. The piano is very heavy; you would need a trailer and some ramps or a truck with a liftgate. If you are interested, send me an e-mail at andy97dodge@yahoo.com and I’ll put you in touch with my folks. Sorry, I don’t know many details like who the manufacturer is or when it was built. Thanks Andy

Be creful when you give away the music rolls,Take them to a collecter if you can find one in your area. For example I have an 1912 signature roll, it has the original signature of The pianist and his portrait. His history ,and short Bio of him.The roll has no torn edges, and complete box with his signature on the box(not on a tag on the box,but writen directly on the box top)The roll plays one full length song about 15 minutes. I have fourteen of these and they range acording to the artist's popularity and fame. Some people will agree and disagre on the value, thats why I say Get an expert on player piano's and roll's in your area. My rolls are valued at $1,200.00 for the top end and $200.00 for the low end. Good luck. Some one will take the piano to.!!

Thanks for the tip on the value of the rolls. My Mom made a few phone calls to members of a music box collectors club and she was told that they would only go for fifty cents. Anybody know of an expert in the L.A. area? Andy

Check on Mechanical Music Digest mmd.foxtail.com for some serious collectors. There used to be several mail auctions for piano rolls, but I don't have any current addresses.

I have recently gotten e-mails from people browsing this forum. The piano and rolls are long gone. Andy
