...and I love it so far :3hearts:

I've just posted this post in the adult beginners Forum

But, it may be appreciated over here more \:\)

The casio PX-100 finally had to go...I've traded it in for a brand new casio PX-320 \:D

The PX100 has been a wonderful piano to learn on and its size and weight have always been a big plus for me.

But, this year I've promised myself I'm gonna start gigging and today I test drove the PX-320 (just this morning in fact) and a deal to part ex the PX100 was done.

This is a fantastic keyboard \:D

128 note polyphony
The weight and the feel of the new keyboard is in a different league to the PX-100
The piano sounds are just beautiful to my ears
and it has audio outs so straight into my rig without using the rack every time and straight into audacity for recording and a SD card record facility built in, to boot!!

I like this piano a lot \:D

http://www.casio.co.uk/Products/Musical%20Instruments/Privia/PX-320H5/At%20a%20Glance/

If you are maybe considering purchasing one and would like to hear how my new baby sounds

I've just recorded a brief jam to show the dynamics of the whole keyboard:-

Practise jam with my new PX-320 {click}

Sounds great Lee, congrats! My gut tells me I want a Yamaha or Roland but I tried all the pianos in a big music shop this weekend and in the lower price range I preferred the Casios by a long way. I only got my M-Audio for Christmas so my wife would kill me if I replaced it so soon, otherwise I'd be joining you! \:D

Hi Baz

Thanks \:D

Yes, I love Yamaha products too and I have the Yamaha Motif rack ES which the Casio can control so I get the best of both worlds \:D .

I have a large DJ rig that the casio can now plug into for gigging without always using the rack (I just get sick of carrying and setting up so much stuff)

Its much lighter than the Yammie keyboards which is a big plus when I am lumping loads of kit around too.

I've been playing this board for hours today and I'm loving it more and more.

(I'm well aware for serious gigging I'd have to tape over the Casio logo of course ;\) )

Ooops forgot to tell mine I was upgrading, still it looks pretty much the same she'll never notice ;\)

LOL! Unforunately it's about a foot longer than my 61 key M-Audio, I don't think I'd get away with it! \:D

how does it be compared to PX200/800 in action? i played on PX110 and PX800 at GC and liked PX800's action better than that on a PX110 or Yamaha DGX625.

Hi Signa

I didn't try the PX200 or 800 sorry...however, its a better action IMHO to my old trusty PX100

I have the yamaha CLP170 at home and its very similar. The extra sampling on each key strike and the 128 note polyphony makes it feel similar to the PX100/yamaha motif combo set up I already had (but without the need for the rack all the time )

regards

Lee \:\)

I will probably add my thoughts in a few weeks/months after I've lived with it a little longer...but, this is a lot of piano for the money...I like it a lot \:D

Hi Lee, you have a lovely grand piano sound there but I was wondering if it had a more upright/bluesy preset? Any chance of a quick demo of it if it has? \:D

Sheesh Baz I'm not sure what sound would be closest?

it has..

Grand Piano Modern (the one I used for the above recording)
GP classic & GP Variation
Rock Piano
La Piano
Mellow Piano
Modern Piano
Dance Piano
Honky Tonk
Octave Piano

Pick one you like and I'll record something for you \:\)

You're a gentleman and a scholar sir!

Difficult to choose! The Honkytonk setting would obviously be an upright but they're usually harsher than I would like.

Can I hear the Rock Piano? I'm guessing that's going to be an Elton John type of sound but might be a useful compromise.

Cheers!

Hi Baz

Did you have to mention Elton John!!

Basically just ignore the playing (cause this aint nothing like him ! )

And blues aint my strong point either so no laughing at the "bluesy attempt" at the end...okay?

Hope it helps

I guess this aint what they call the blues !! LOL {click}

Very nice! Thanks a lot mate, that's actually pretty close to the kind of sound I was looking for! I think this piano would suit me very well. All I need to do now is find one to try and come up with a plausible reason to buy a new keyboard lol!

Hmmm that could be a little tricky?

I'm sure some of the more "experienced husbands" here could come up with some great reasons ;\)

Thinking about it

if you can't come up with a good reason

I guess you would call it the blues

However, you could stick a tenner on yourself with Billy Hills/Ladbrokes to play it one day :p

If anyone is interested in hearing how the drum machine in the PX-320 sounds...I haven't played much with these things but, I quite like the Samba one. Played around with it for a while yesterday and decided to record something.

I have also posted this in the ABF but, for anyone who is thinking of buying this keyboard feel free to take a listen \:\)

here's what I said over there:-

 Quote:
Boy, I'm just lovin' my new Casio PX-320 at the moment [Big Grin]

I haven't spent much time with drum machines but had some fun yesterday afternoon trying all the rhythm patterns that the Casio has...

My favourite today is the Samba beat and it seemed to go quite well with playing "More"...so hey! here's a little goofing around with the Casio (who knows, might get you dancing this morning? [Big Grin] )
Casio PX-320 - More - Samba Style {click to hear}

Just Too much fun to be had! \:D

Hiya Rocky \:\)

yes I love it...this is a huge step up from our PX-100's...yet its just so familiar

The keyboard feels a much higher quality, and the 128 polyphony will blow your mind after the PX-100 its very similar to how my motif rack sounds but not the same obviously.

There are hundreds of instruments to play and over 70 rhythm patterns to jam along with which I find a heap of fun

probably not as good as Roland or Yammies but, a lot of bang for the buck and if I trade it in again in 3 years time for the latest thing it hasn't lost me too much in depreciation to boot \:D

regards

I'm new to this forum but reading this post...I'm glad I chose the PX-320 over the PX-200...despite similarities in functions...although of course, the PX-320 offers some "extras"...features-wise. I was looking for "feedbacks" regarding the PRIVIA PX-320 over the net but it seems that to date, there are only a few people who have this newer model. Truly a bang for the buck stuff though.

I must admit it's been quite addicting playing the PX-320. I've decided to give my good 'ol, aging acoustic upright piano some rest for a while.

It's sad though that unlike its predecessor (i.e. PX-310), the PX-320 doesn't have a MIDI THRU port.
And at the very least, a 6-track sequencer for lush arrangements would be more welcome for this stage/home studio PRIVIA model. Nevertheless, this is a digital piano FIRST and keyboard/organ-stuff" SECOND so what the heck...I can probably live with that...my PC, cakewalk sonar and DXi/VST are around anyways if the need for DAW arises.

A pitch bend wheel would also come in handy. And I must say, I like the breathy ALTO and TENOR SAX patches.

I could only imagine how great it would be if CASIO would come up with a 128-note polyphony version of the older PRIVIA PX-410R (perhaps it would be called something like PX-420R or somethin' to that effect)...with its drawbar organ function, built-in sequencer and hundreds of tones to choose from, it'll probably be a viable full-featured, non-Yamaha/Korg/roland/Kawai portable digital piano by far. Now this is probably the one thing that would make me sell my recently bought PX-320.
