I am retired and have decided to take lessons again. I have a Technics electric organ and am presently looking at a Roland digital piano. I know very little about them.
This is a K333 I think. What would a good price be and what should I look for?? I really need some help. Thanks.

Gail, the Technics is a fantastic instrument, that includes their digital piano. However, in my opinion, I think its overpriced. I bought my Roland KR4500 for $3800 and a comparable instrument is now $6000. If you're thinking used, I'm asking $2300 for mine and its in mint condition. Regarding any digital, they're fun to play because of the big sound you get out of them. You can play one finger melodies and 2 finger chords with the automatic rythyms and it sounds like a entire orchestra playing. Good luck.

I went to the music store today. I had the model # ALL wrong. Sorry. It is KR-577 and they are asking $6000 and up. We couldn't get
together on a price yet. At this point I am still looking. I really appreciate the comments and the help. Keep it coming as I am learning and looking. Thanks.

Hello Gail,

have you even considered an acoustic?
With a budget of $6000 there is quite a number of pianos available to chose from (as I have learned on this forum :)).

Just a thought...

Gail,

I own a Roland KR-375 (replaced by the KR-377) that I purchased new in Feb. '99. This is very similar to the KR-577 that you are interested in. Last April I purchased an Estonia grand. While I love the Roland, I absolutely love playing the acoustic. No digital can compare with the sound, touch, and control that you have with an acoustic. I have no intention of getting rid of the Roland because I like, and use, the various voices and accompianment features that a digital has to offer. Of course, if you want these features then a digital would obviously be the way to go. But as Nici pointed out, if you're looking at prices around 6k, you really should check out an acoustic before you make a final decision. There are some high-quality uprights that you could purchase for the same money.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Mike
