Looking for advice on a digital piano for my flat.I traditionally am used to the regular piano so am looking for a piano with the pedals to go with it.My budget is quite small (£800,approx. $1300).

I have trawled Google(UK)and basically confused myself (not hard!) so any advice on all-in-one dig pianos(with pedals,speakers)or maybe something I can put together(stage piano +speakers+pedals)would be greatly appreciated.Piano sound and touch more important than any additional sounds although having a midi function would be a bonus.

You might want to look into a Yamaha P90 (stage piano), with something like a Roland KC-300/350 Amplifier and maybe some good headphones.

Or, maybe a Roland FP-5 (or FP-3 with the stand, speakers, and pedal upgrade) or Yamaha P120. Both have built-in speakers.

You could also go the "used" route. Where you might be able to find something like say a Roland RD-600.

I think for most of these you will have to purchase the pedals seperatly, though pedals are fairly inexpensive.

Thanks for your reply Zymtil.:)I really should have read other threads before too as they have answered alot of my questions too.After much deliberation I decided to go for a straight dig. piano(built in speakers,pedals).I narrowed my search to the Yamaha CLP120.Almost on budget(£800-$1300).Cant go much higher than that in price.

Can you recommend any other makes and models on or under my price range that I can try out?

The Yamaha CLP series is very nice. You may also want to check out the Roland HP line.

Ive finally decided to get either the Yamaha CLP-120 or Yamaha YDP-223(whichever I can get cheaper)because I've been told by a dealer over the phone they're exactly the same!

I went in to a different dealer today see if I could try out the CLP but I just got dirty looks from the 2 people on duty.I asked if I could try the CLP
(supposed to have plenty in the basement section),their answer: 'they've all been sold.More will be in next week'.I then asked if they new of another dealer they could recommend.The answer,'Harrods'.

Well I just couldn't believe it!I felt so small when I left the store,and cheap.They were supposed to have a good reputation.

I don't even know now if I even want to bother trying it out in a shop before buying it after that experience.Might just simply buy it online.

Sorry for ranting on but just had to get it off my chest.

I don't blame you for being frustrated (my blood pressure went up as I was reading your post). The way some dealers operate is amazing. I don't understand how they stay in bussiness. Yet it seems almost the norm. I've been to countless music shops and it seems to me that the majority of them treat their customers like they don't matter. I've been ignored or lied to so many times in music shops, you'd think I'de be used too it, but it still burns me up every single time.

Well I've managed to calm myself down and am going to try out some pianos tomorrow in a less snooty area of London.Maybe I'll be taken seriously if I go with cash!

No sooner have I chosen a piano when something else crops up....polyphony!!The 1 I want has 64.I think its gonna be another late night on the net.Not that late,just checked and Id have to have £400's more to get 128 polyphony.

Still gonna stick to my guns and go for the clp120 after all I only want it for the piano part and a basic midi function is just fine.Can always add something later if I decide to start composing again.Will make sure to try out Roland HP1 and 2 also.
