Hi all,

I'm looking for a Digital Piano, with REAL piano sounds and a REAL weighted keyboard.

I've seen the Yamaha CVP-303 that is more than I'm searching, but it has a very good piano sound and the "extra"-arranger is not bad. The keyboard (type Graded Hammer) is not bad, but I think there is much better.

I've seen also the GEM RP220 that is a normal Digital Piano, without arranger. The piano sound is supported by 6 woofer (3+3) for a total of 70+70W of sound. The keyboard - I think - is much more realistic than the Yamaha.

Now, I cannot make a choice because I am confused.

Can anyone say anything about that?

Thanks

Francesco

Francesco,

I think that GEM, like other European manufacturers of digital pianos, uses Fatar actions. Fatar used to advertise one that had an escapement feature, which I presume was simulated, rather than real.

I'd definitely call or e-mail their tech support in Italy.

It used to be that only GEM's Bachmann GRPT140 had a true acoustic action. I own one. The action is a Detoa vertical action. (In Europe, a "piano," not a flugel.)

Fatar has---or at least used to have---several keyboards available to digital piano manufactuers. The only way to be certain about what's in the RP220 is to contact GEM's tech rep.

The RP220's amplifier and speakers have the same specs as those in the GRPT140, but the action is not said to be from an acoustic.
