Greetings,
I've been trying to decide on purchasing the clp130 or clp120 and because of just a couple of features have been leaning toward the 130.

Does anyone have either of these and might be able to speak to the differences to provide a feel for the products in more than just a feature list like found in their brochures?

Thanks!
Michael

why not get a clp150 if you can afford it? clp150 had 128 polyphony while both clp130/120 have only half of it. you can also check out pf500 online, which is quite similar to clp150 (except the appearance).

$$$ is the big question...especially since i'm having to buy in poland where i probably won't get as good a deal as if i bought int he states.

really, i dont' know that 128 polyphony will be that big of an issue with me for some time. that takes some serious speed to necessitate 128 simultaneous tones!!

do you know if there are any specific drawbacks to the 130 other than polyphony? i think i've read that the differences betwee 130 and 150 are only polyphony and xg sounds (which i've read aren't very good anyway). anything else that would stand out as a potentitally big negative??

thanks!

The CLP150 has the following advantages:
128 polyphony
dynamic stereo sampling, vs. stereo sampling: makes for a more realistic change in tone as you play soft to loud
USB port, and storage for 200+ songs
The ability to play back full general MIDI 16 track files
The obvious 16 track sequencer, the space to store your tunes, and the instruments to create the arrangement you want.

The CLP120 specs say one sampled dynamic step.

The CLP130 has three dynamic steps sampled from a real piano, actual soft, medium, and loud samples, plus key off.

The CLP150 has all that, plus a string resonance effect, plus all the XG voices. It has the 16 track sequencer, and if you created a recording with several tracks of accompanyment, the 128 polyphony may become important.

Other than furniture and bigger amplifiers and speakers, it appears the CLP130 is basically a P120, and the CLP150 is basically a P250. Both of these are very popular.

One downside in the case of the P120, songs you record internally cannot be output to the MIDI port (only via the audio out ports, or else you could record them externally in the first place).
All the Yamaha user manuals are online.

I just bought a CLP-130 this weekend. The reason I bought it over the CLP 120 is the amplifier is 20 watts in the CLP 120 and I wanted a 40 watt amp minimum.Besides that I couldnt tell the difference in sound.
