I've heard there are some negative mono summing issues with the P250. Is this true?

What does the P250 sound like when onky a single mono output is taken? Does the left/right collapse well or does it sound hollow and phase-y?

I need a good stage piano, but some of the venues I play are strictly mono house. In all other areas I love the P250, but I've never heard it strictly in mono through a keybord amp or wedge.

Any comments from owners?

There were some very intense and sometimes obsessive discussions of p250 and mono on harmony-central.com and musicplayer.com.

I have a P250 and a P120 and the acoustic piano sounds in particular do sound weird and a little phasey when played thru a single mono sound speaker. Their piano samples were designed to be played back in stereo and therefore are less than ideal when played in mono.

I bought the P250--love it!!!

The mono compatibility issue is not a problem. There is a slight artifact, but no more than with any good stereo source that is collapsed into mono. It's actually fine, and it records and performs great in mono.

In my opinion the Yamaha P250, P120 and P90 all suffer when summed into mono, they sound somewhat hollow and artificial.

Yeah, it's a little phase-y, but most pianos [real] sound like this, or worse, when summed to mono.
