Our school purchased a Suzuki-97 digital piano. The instrument will midi to a computer. I was wondering what software to use that will enable me to record myself playing the piano and then burn that recording to a CD.

You'll probably have the best luck forgetting the MIDI and connecting the "audio out" right to the PC's soundcard. I did that with mine and used MusicMatch to digitize the music. Note that when digitizing, you can create either mp3's or WAV files. Most likely (if for no other reason than to remove the long silence at beginning and end), you will have to edit the soundfile. For that reason, you may want to create a WAV file. Then, with many programs (I bought one at Best Buy 3 years ago for $65), you can edit a WAV file. You can slice it, dice it, make it louder, softer, etc. Then when you have your WAV file edited, you burn it (or hopefully several of them!) to a CD (MusicMatch is more known for this task actually). Hope this helps. There may be better ways of course, but this worked for my "debut album" a couple years ago. And when [some]people listen to it, they think it is a real piano, not a digital.

You'll need a recording program

If you are looking for a sound recorder/editor, then I can recommend Audicity. It has all the features you could want for basic sound editing and you can't beat the price (free).
