Hi there
I am new to this forum, but would appreciate any advice you may be able to offer.
I recently decided to buy a dedicated digital piano, but could only afford a fairly modest instrument (Yamaha NP30). I am very pleased with my purchase, but am concerned that the sustain pedal I ordered at the same time isn't quite what I thought it would be.
It was advertised as an SP2 unit. I assumed that that meant that it was an M-Audio SP2 pedal. What I got was a VFP1 pedal with an extra sticker on the bottom saying SP2.
Is there much difference between the two units? Is it worth trying to return it? HAVE I BEEN CONNED!!!!!!?????

This is not unusual with this type of item, and I
see no problem. The pedal was just tossed
into the piano's shipping container with no box
or instructions for it, right? This is
standard procedure for pedals. These universal
pedals are apparently cranked out by the
hundreds of thousands by one or two
factories in China under several brand
names, and the differences between the different
brands and models begins to blur after a while.
This VFP pedal has been designated as
model 1, 1/25, and 125 in the past and has
been sold under the Studiologic and
Quicklok brands. It could very well be
that it is now an M-Audio brand. In any
case, the VFP pedal has always been more
expensive than the M-Audio SP-2 pedal, so
you've got a better pedal for the amount
you spent.
