Got a CA51 last week and was setting up my old upright to be in tune with the DP. I noticed right away that the CA51 seems to be about 30 cents off perfect 440. I forget which way, flat I think. I am using TuneLab97 and have calibrated it to the WWV 500 and 600 Hz audio from shortwave transmissions, so I am certain that the TuneLab97 is correctly calibrated, at least everything else matches including some Motorola test equipment that has been calibrated. The Motorola equipment measures to 0.1Hz. I have tried several times and get the same result. Is there any way to adjust the CA51 to perfect A4 440? The tuning feature only goes in 1/2Hz increments.

I realize this is not real important, but I can be very anal in this respect, just my nature.

Thanks,
Dave

Is it set up as equal temperament? There seem to be a number of tuning options - I can't recall which are based on 440:

Temperaments Equal (Piano Only), Mersenne pure (Major), Mersenne pure (minor), Equal (Piano Only), Pythagorea, Meantone, Werckmeister III, Kirnberger III, Pythagorea, Meantone, Equal (Flat), Equal, USER

Hmmmm. I'll have to take a look and see if any of the tunings put A4 exactly at 440. However, I thought tuning always started at A4=440 unless it is some strange tuning, I think the Russians used something different.

I just tried all the different tunings, and all the A4 were -2.90 cents or 439.262 Hz.

Well if they're all reporting at just under 440hz, it's either a global issue with the piano tunings or something to do with your measurement instrument. I guess you might contact Kawai with your tunings - custom re-tuning the whole thing would seem to be a highway to a mental breakdown. It's digital, after all - it doesn't make sense.
