You do need the files to be in wav, or mp3 format before burning them to an Audio CD. One of a free ways of doing it would be to use Cantible Light, which is what I use - it can be downloaded here http://www.toptensoftware.com/cantabile/download.php It's not very straighforward though, if you're not used to it - and somebody else may have an easier solution. If you want you can post/or email the midi file, and I'll make an Ivory recording for you.

Hi Pianoman88,
This is how I am set up to do this with my Casio PX310. The connectors that I use are also available on your CVP301. There are alternate ways of doing this using free software, but to do it the way I am doing it you will need the following:
Cakewalk Home Music Creator (includes the USB to MIDI converter) Audio cable - two 1/4" mono plugs to 1 1/8" stereo plug.
I connect the MIDI converter to the MIDI ports on the keyboard and to the USB on my laptop.
I connect line out on the keyboard using the two 1/4" mono plugs to my microphone in on the laptop using the 1/8" stereo plug.
I power up my keyboard and laptop.
I start Cakewalk music creator and start a new project. I will have one MIDI track and one audio track.
I set the MIDI track to record and start recording in Cakewalk (Yeah, it is two separate steps).
Play your piece on the keyboard. The computer keeps track of the notes you press and how long, etc.
When I have a good take, I set the MIDI track to only play, not record. Then I set the audio track to record. Again I start recording.
This time, the computer uses the MIDI converter to play the keyboard for me. The exact sounds from the keyboard line out are recorded into the audio track.
I save the audio track as a wave file and it can be used to burn a CD.
If you want to do this using free software in a similar mannar, then you would still need the MIDI to USB converter and the audio cable. I'm not sure what software to use. The Cakewalk software with MIDI to USB converter runs about $50, while a converter alone is $30 - $40. Depending on how long you need the audio cables, they would run $10 or more.
The reason for this is because MIDI is the commands to play the keyboard, not the actual sounds. If you want to convert this to wave on your computer, then you need software or a sound card that can play MIDI. It would then be using it's sounds instead of your keyboard. If you want to hear your Clavinova play the notes, then you need the audio cable part of the solution. You could just as easily play the Clavinova and record just the sound on your computer.
Hope this makes sense.

The MIDI file contains only instructions on which key is pressed when and how hardly. It doesn't contain the actual sound itself. Windows Media Player can play it with its internal MIDI synthesizer with a disgusting piano patch but the best way to burn CD-s with your performances is to playback those MIDI files on the same digital piano you recorded them and record the audio output from the piano.
