Hello,

I've had my p90 for about a year now and love it. What I wanted to do was record some passages and songs to later on stream off my website. My question is if there is a good midi program out there that isn't WAY expensive to do this?

why do you want to record midi instead of actual audio?

Hi,

I actually don't know a whole lot about recording anything and sounding good. I figured creating a sound file directly from the piano to a computer would be easy and the best solution.

Nick,

If you record MIDI and put it on your website, the playback sound and quality will depend on what the listener has. For example, if he/she has P90 connected to the computer, it will sound just like what you played. If he/she has a cheap sound card, it won't sound that good.

Some additional considerations, just food for thought:

The file size of a recorded music file (say, MP3) will be much, much larger than a comparable midi file. (we're talking thousands of times, here.) They'll still be manageable, though.

The sound quality though, will be much better for most people than midi.

So if you want background music for your website, midi is probably the way to go. If the music is what you're showcasing, MP3 is the way to go - but it'll take a while to stream (easier as a file download).

For MP3, any sound recorder will do, as long as it converts. For midi, I dunno... I know my P250 stored midi files and you can just transfer them over the USB interface. Not sure how the P60 works.
