My 8 year old son will start taking piano lessons in February. His teacher recommended getting a digital vs. an acoustic piano. I've been to a few stores and the models I come up are Yamaha CLP-110 and Roland PT 2000. I've also read about various Kawai's and Viscount's. My husband nor I play the piano and we need HELP!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated - our budget is $2000. Thanks - Deneen

Why not ask your son's teacher what he/she recommends? Probably the teacher already has a digital and has some ideas about what works best for beginners.

My own experience is that the Viscount is well priced and has pretty good samples, but the interface is more cumbersome than the other three. Roland and Yamaha are the big names but Kawai makes a very nice digital.

Hi Jim:

I did ask his teacher and she suggested Yamaha, but she also did say that she got a group discount on them because of the number purchased at one time. So I not real sure if she really likes them or that she has them because of the discount. So I am seeking suggestions from others also. Thanks for your help!
