It seems that all the various emulators do something really well. My Roland VK does very well on certain types of things. My B4 (Native Instruments plug-in) does even more things well, but isn't very "road worthy". The Korg (can't recall the model number) captures the "gritty" vibe, but isn't all that versatile. I use a buddy's C3 whenever I need to record the real thing (and when I have a budget). Everything else I do is a mixture of either VK or B4.
I haven't cleared this with the wife yet, but I'm thinking that a vintage Hammond might be a reality for me in '05...
I just replaced my Nord Electro 2 with the Hammond XK-3. The Hammond wins hands down as an authentic B3. I almost went with the B4 from NI, but I like the XK-3 better overall. The XK-3 does all of the B3 effects exceptionally well. If you get the XK-3 I can give you my Leslie settings, as I prefer mine over the default setup.
