I recently have been researching digital pianos to buy. I am very impressed with the sound quality of the Ketron GP10, and according to a sales rep. a very "top end" Italian manufacturer of pianos. but when looking online for reviews/comments found it was very difficult to track down extensive info. on this company (compared to the known Roland, Korg, Yamaha etc...). Does anyone know anything about Ketron and/or any comments on the GP10A digital piano model?

I've never heard of Ketron myself so I can't really tell you anything positive or negative about that particular brand, but I did a quick google search and came up with their North-American website:

http://www.ketronus.com/

And I also found an online store with a bit of information on it:

That's about all I could find for now.

Really appreciate the reseach you did! What i'm running into (with my internet research as well) - they throw all the stats/specs at you, but what would be most helpful in deciding whether to buy are product reviews/comparisons or anyone who has a Ketron to compare with other brands. This seems harder to find than it SHOULD be. The piano store in DC I went to seems to think they are one of the top professional name brands?!? Thanks again - and keep me posted of any new info!

They are definitely NOT one of the top professional name brands.

You're not going to find user comments on this
kind of offbeat brand. Hardly anyone sells one,
so hardly anyone will have tried one and then
taken the time to post his impressions.

I personally wouldn't have a problem buying one.
The technical specs of digital pianos today
have become standardized to a large extent,
with many apparently being maufactured by the same
factories in China. The specs look similar
to other models in that price range, which
are pretty good. I personally like the offbeat
myself, and I think this looks pretty attractive
with its silver and gold colors, catchy name,
and apparent Italian origins.

Looks interesting, they have a large range of models for an unknown brand.

There is also http://www.ketron.it/ ("english" in the upper right corner.)

That GP10 (without the "A") seems to look (there are more pictures in the "brochure") a lot like my Viscount Viva-X, with a different set of buttons in the metal, but with a similair led-display in the middle and wooden caps on the sides and so on, but the GP10 has more features. Perhaps they are related to Viscount. (just a guess.)

(Incase they are, my Viva-X is a nice and well-built instrument. smile )

I had an opportuniry to try a Ketron keyboard, don't remember the type, but 88 weighted keys and the model had just name made of letters and #1, was selling for 1200$ at farmers market's piano stand (if you can believe it) and I was impressed with truly nice, bright sound and good, smooth action. The whole farmer's market is in warehouse-type building, this stand's operator has area of rather large living room and displays his pianos quite tastefully. He has Viscounts, Ketrons and several Privias.

All these comments have been helpful - as I'm still on the search! In the process of my multiple conversations to find more about the elusive Ketron, I was steered towards Yamaha. The Yamaha CLP130 Clavinova was the digital of choice. Thoughts? Comments/reviews? Lowest Prices (i've heard well under 3000)-still seems out of my price range (~1400) but maybe it is worth it?
