Interested in views on this post... thanks.

I am still looking but moving towards a serious interest in a Roland HP107 having tried it out locally.
The thing is that I am around grade 5 (passed this at school a long time ago) at very best and unlikely to improve on this. I may be able to afford the 107 (or Yam CLP170) but should someone of my standard get one of these or is it fair to say that I am not good enough to warrant a top instrument such as these?
Should I be looking at lower models?
In a way I think that while I can't play it as well as some people on this forum, I do appreciate the good sound.
Any views

Thanks

Doz

The more you spend on a Roland HP or a Yamaha CLP, the closer you get to the real thing. If you can afford it, go for it. You're not getting anything more than increased quality/realism.

I just wish the HP107 had more veolocity samples per note (the same for all other digital pianos). But I'm sure it will be implemented in a future model.

Playing the very soft pianissimos with the HP107 results in a muffled sound due to filtering and lack of real samples in those velocities. Otherwise, HP107 is a great piano.

Agreed with cobs. If you can afford it, go with the 107 or the 170. Don't cut yourself short. Being in the business, I have never heard someone say that the wished they would have bought the lower or "cheaper" model.
But I have heard a lot of customers say they wish they would have just spent the extra money and got what they really wanted in the first place.
