Hi. I will pick up a Yamaha P120 soon.

But I had a few questions:

1) Does anyone know if Yamaha will release new digital pianos (ie. improved P120), if so, when? I'd hate to buy a new P120 and have a better model come out. I rather wait.

2) What websites do you guys recommend to purchase from that provide financing?

3) Does anyone believe the Roland 300SX is better than the P120?

Thanks!

I like the RD300SX better.

Samwy,

http://www.music123.com/ has a financing offer on the right side of its front page.

Here's a link to user reviews of the P 120 http://www.harmony-central.com/Synth/Data/Yamaha/P120-01.html

And here's one for the Roland http://www.harmony-central.com/Synth/Data/Roland/RD_300SX-01.html

In general, the Yammies are built like tanks. My P-80 is still usable after three years, and I bought it used.

Rolands usually have a lighter touch.

Do a google search for Yamaha P120 and you should find some others.

I'm in the market for one too...just saving up the money. If you would, PM me with where you decided to purchase from and why.

Good luck.

Do you guys think the Roland 700sx is worth the extra $1000 over the P120?

I am going to use it for piano mostly. I am a bit of a perfectionist and I want the piano sound to be extremely good.

If you had to choose one, which one would it be and why?

you'll have to know which brand's action you like best first. Yamaha's action is little heavier than Roland's. also, Roland700sx is the latest Roland model which would have some advantege clearly for the extra money. but if you don't like its action, then you're back to P120.

personally, i like Yamaha's action better.

It's really a tough call between the RD-300SX and the P120. I've finally had the opportunity to audition both machines quite extensively, and I've concluded that the piano sound is demonstrably superior on the Roland while the action is (in my opinion) quite compellingly superior on the Yamaha.

Of course, this doesn't make the choice very easy at all... in fact, I still haven't decided yet. \:\)

Well, you have tried out both, and can't yet decide.
I guess you now have to go to next preferences, such as quality of other voices, features and looks.
All i can say is that i recommend the P120, it sounds great to me and has on-board speakers as an extra and is also very reliable. But also keep in mind that i have not had a chance to play the RD-300sx yet.
They are both high quality intruments and you will be happy with either choice, so enjoy playing when you decide.
Cheers

If the extra $1k over the P120 doesn't bug you, then before you buy anything, check out the Yamaha PF500.

I've just recently picked one up, after a few weeks of comparing, and shopping around. I thought it was better than the few rolands I tried, and to my ears had a better sound than the P120.

Norbert, a piano dealer and regular poster on the accoustical piano forum, said in a similar topic that Yamaha would debut the P-120's successor this summer. Here's the topic: http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/6/956.html#000002

I bought my P120S a couple of years ago. Like you, I wanted the newest model possible because digital pianos, like P.C.'s become obsolete fast. I didn't want the P250 because it was more expensive. So I waited for the P-120 to come to a local store where I could test drive it. It took several months and I live in a big city. There may be a time lag between Yamaha's press release announcing that a new model will go on sale and when a store near you will actually have them in stock.

Ignore him, the P120 is a beautiful stage piano, and you will love playing it. In the end, thats all that matters.

I just bought a P120 and will pick it up
Saturday. Everything I've heard about it has
been great. It seems to be the best quality for
the money.
