I am getting some distortion from my P120 when I turn up the volume and play certain notes.

For example the E5, B6 and C6 make kind of a distorted rattling sound from the right speaker. Most of the time I use the headphones and I don't get this noise with the headphones.

I have the extended warranty from Guitar Center, I just opened a ticket so I don't know yet how they'll address it.

I think I've read here about this kind of problem before. Now I'm wondering if this might be one reason why Yamaha lowered the amplifier power output when they built the new P140. I know this lowered power has been kind of a mystery here. The lower power might mean less demand on the speakers and fewer problems like this one.

Hi Copper,
I just bought me a "brand new second-hand" P120 and I don't even have to turn up the volume to hear what's going on : the distorted sound is in the headphones as well ( both AKG 271 and Senheisser 600 HD) , even at low gain but only starting when playing fortissimo. There are other issues as well : B6 is false (1 of the 3 strings was more than probably out of tune when they sampled it)and Yamaha's attempt for a tempered tuning fails 'cause only F5-F6,G5-G6,G#5-G#6" have the "tempered approach"(at least I hope that's what they we're trying), the others don't .This makes for an unnatural playing-experience in the high register . Hoping to find similar reactions and a" a solution" I found your post and immediately registered. I only see you're post so I'm wondering: did you get any reaction at all back then, did others have similar experiences, is there a way I can see their replies, does Yamaha know?
Sorry for my English, I'm Belgian (So Dutch and mostly French over here)
THX, JM
