I haven't tried those specific models, but I believe this is more of a personal preference than anything else. I've heard positive things about the Yamaha and the Roland brands. I own a Roland as a 2nd piano. Play them both, and pick the one that most appeals to you in terms of touch and sound would be the best advice I can give you.

Regards,
Dan

That's good advice. Personally I'd go for the Yamaha but it's a purely subjective judgement. Do play both and then buy the one you like.

Im in the same situation.. I've been playing both yamaha and roland to compare the two brands and I must say that I preffere Yamaha. Both in touch and sound. But still that may only apply to me. it's very personal and both brands deliver some good quality products. I know a person who chose Roland instead of Yamaha because the key's on the Yamaha were too 'heavy' (don't know if that makes any sense in english). But still.. Only thing to do is to sit down and play our favorit tunes and feel which one feels and sounds just right!

Best of luck
Daniel

I had the CLP 820 which is the same as the 810 with e few additional voices. The tone in my opinion is unbeatable. I bought mine in 98 having tried out all the more expensive models at that time. I bought it on merit. Tough cookie indeed! You`ll not go wrong, and it`ll hold it`s price.
