Where are you in Australia? You should be able to get something good at that price depending upon the format you want (cabinet type, stage type). Mid-higher range Yamaha or higher range Roland. Most piano shops should offer a good deal. What do you want to do with it? Classical/jazz/gigs/home use?

I got a Yamaha PF500 here in Canberra for $3200, $1800 off list because it was a floor model. That does MIDI, sequencing etc but not sure its the best for that because I dont use those features, just play it as an instrument but it is good there. In the Yamaha series, the Clavinova CLP150(cabinet) and the Yamaha P250(stage, may be more your choice wrt composing, but others on this forum are more qualified to comment than I) you should negotiate well within your $5000 budget. Others may have suggestions wrt other brands for example Roland which are capable at composing. Not sure how many Aussies post on this forum though so availability/pricing is subject to local constraints.
