I think I found a good buy, but I was wondering what this board thinks.

At a local used music shop, I found a Roland FP-1 digital piano in decent condition. It has a damaged chorus button and two dead keys. The asking price was $399. I was wondering if anyone knew if these keys could be fixed or if anyone could offer me any other information. Thanks

Dan

Dan, personially I would be inclined to buy it if I could arrange repairs. I have always liked the fp series as I believe they have the most realistic actions on a digital of their price range, that I have tried. Also you need to know if the two dead keys are totally dead or if they still transmit midi data. If midi still works, you can use a tone module to supply the sound. Check with Roland for parts, service, or a local factory service center. Good luck!(and see if you can talk them down another $100 since it needs so much TLC)

Thanks for the response. Well I talked to the manager of the store, and it turns out his co-workers couldn't keep the boards straight. The FP-1 I bought had 0 dead keys and came with all the necessary parts. It has some cosmetic damage, but then again I'm not judging this book by it's cover: the sound is amazing and I love playing it (when I can't play the accoustic). My parents also like it, I guess not everyone likes to hear me practice
