I was in a music store a couple of days ago and played on the Yamaha SX6 & SX8 Motif . I thought the only difference was the weighted 88 keys. Both instruments were going thru the same set of monitor speakers. Set up the same way with the same sound, the SX8 samples had more depth and were fuller than the SX6. This is puzzling to me. I like the smaller size of the SX6, but something is different.

You were looking at them in a mirror. It's the Motif XS6 and XS8.

They are identical in every way except action. Likely someone had messed with the master EQ or effects of one or both units. Always best to perform a factory reset before you audition any board.

Thanks for replying. I was considering the Korg M3 and the new Motif. Right now I am leaning toward the Korg. I am not as fond of the list of choosing instruments on the Motif. Hard to get just on the right one without getting on the next sound I am sure the Yamaha is more user friendly as all their products are. Korg is not always that way, but I have a T3, so I am a little use to their stuff. I sure don't need that Karma crap on it though. And of course, the piano sound is better on the Yamaha and the french horn with strings is a killer. Kind of waiting for a new Tyros. I guess you can wait for ever because you know something should be right around the corner.
