I recently ordered a CLP280PE for $4000 out of state because my local dealer in Southern California was only willing to sell for $5000. The dealer I ordered from didn't have any in stock but was able to order one and get it in 1 week. It was then shipped to me in 2 weeks so I was able to get it in 3 weeks total.

I believe your dealer will still be making money selling to you for $4200 and I think you should hold them to it. If not you could always buy out of state.

They sound like a car salesman. First they give you an offer then the manager refuses it.
I would get a better price elsewhere even if it is out of state. Extra cost for shipping. Then confront your manager and say I have this offer you meet it or you will lose me as a customer.

Be happy while there is still time.

Today we were able to work out a deal that is agreeable to both of us. I had to talk to some out of state dealers to find someone that could find a unit before Christmas. After debating that approach (and deciding against it), I decided to make an offer to the local dealer. They are loaning us a non-PE for free while we wait for the PE to arrive, giving us 0% financing for 12 months, and agreeing to a price closer to $4200 + tax.

Closure on this deal in a timely fashion (as this is a Christmas gift) was more critical than getting the unit for $4200.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts on the matter. There was a mix of peoplpe online and off that thought I should or should not push for the original price. I think it was an honest mistake giving the fact that the salesman had the same price on his sheet for rosewood and PE.
