Does anyone have any thoughts regarding the value of this Roland digital? Its 6 years old and in like-new condition. I want to go back to an acoustic studio upright. Thanks.
P.S. It was Rolands' top of the line at the time and I got a discounted price of about $3800.

What is a 6 year top of the line computer worth now? Next to nothing. Because it is a technical relic.

It's almost the same with a 6 year old top of the line digital piano of any make, since basically it is a computer.

Technology has advanced dramatically over the past 6 years and PCs and digital pianos have become cheaper in the meantime (or rather you're getting more in terms of sound quality and features for the $$).
So don't expect to get even half of what you've paid for the Roland. I think you can be lucky if you get a third of the orignial price.

Gibby,

Nici is right. Last year I traded a Roland HP3000S, which was fifteen years old, when we upgraded to an acoustic upright. I paid $3400 Can when I bought it, and got $1200 Can on trade. I consider myself lucky to have gotten that, and I believe trading in on an acoustic helped. I would not have expected to get more that $800 Can if I offered it for sale.
Since I bought the original Roland, the new ones are General MIDI compatible, have parallel port for direct link to computer, built in real time sequencers, better actions and better digital samples. And these will be outmoded next year by still better upgrades. If you want the techie stuff, if is tough to keep up, which makes for pretty quick depreciation on older instruments.
