My wife has asked for a musical keyboard for Christmas. I was looking at some of the options and have become even more confused! The only thing I feel want for sure are keys that light up to teach you how to play. I think this would make things much easier, as neither of us have any musical experience whatsoever. So, Casio vs Yamaha, any suggestions?

Yamaha is generally regarded as better instruments but you should also consider Roland. Read through this forum and you will find lots of information on both. I would stay away from other brands, especially Casio but that is just my opinion.

i also think that Yamaha is the best and most natural-sounding, like an acoustic or grand. it also has the best weighted action. the other brands [such as KORG and Casio] are just artificial-sounding. trust me, i know by experience.
