Hello, there. I'm new to the digital piano world and would like your opinions. I'm thinking of Yamaha YDP 223 and Roland HP-2 and MP 60 (because I read about it here). Here is what I'm looking for in a DP: sounds and plays (key action) like an acoustic piano, must have at least 64 polyphony, doesn't look flimsy, doesn't need too much bells and whistles, and my budget is no more than $1700. I tried the Yamaha CLP and seem pretty nice. I have not actually try the YDP 223 at a store. I tried the Roland DP-900 (I'll go back to try the HP-2) also. Everything was great except it made the "plasticky" noise whenever my finger hit the keys (key action was great). It is nice but out of my price range so my choice is HP-2 or MP 60. I am not familiar w/ the later model. I only read it on the forum and sounds like what I want.

Here are my questions:
1. Where are the Yamaha and Roland made? USA or Japan is good. I am origin loyal. I don't really want to pay this much $$ when I have doubts about quality control issues.
2. Are they easy to assemble if I bought it online? I'm not handy at all; neither is my husband.
3. What's the main difference between YDP 223, HP-2 and MP 60?
4. YDP has 20Wx2 speakers. Is that powerful? Sounds weak. I can't find any information as to Roland's speakers??
5. Is anyone familiar w/ pianodepot.com? Are they reliable? I believe they're in Europe. Their prices are one-half off. But have to pay custom taxes and hefty shipping (appox $400-500 shipping alone).

I'd appreciate any input. Thank you much!!

YDP223=CLP120(almost perhaps). but, it's better to get at least an upgraded model CLP130. you may check the specs of some of those pianos on some internet seller sites, such as music123.com or instrumentpro.com, etc.

The first comment. Don't go with the retailer outside the U.S. It is risky and headache if something went wrong. How can you return the item with that hefty shipping? And shipping/custom duty cost already offset the discount you would get anyway. From many local online retailers, shipping is around 50 to 150 depending on the distance from your place.
Yes. All those digital piano need minor assembling. The Piano unit itself is already assembled. You can put it on table top and play as it is. But if you want something like real piano, you need to assemble its legs and pedals. Not difficult at all. If you can turn screws, you could do that. (not like user assembled furniture)
Models you are describing are at the same level. ]
I think MP and YDP are assembled in china. HP is in Japan. Speaker powers are the same too. Not that weak to play inside your home. Piano cabinet gives some level of acoustic amplification(unlike models in plastic case) so it gonna be decent enough for your ears.
Question is which model gives you the 'feel' you want? And decide upon it.

I've been doing some surfing. I can't find the specs on Roland MP 60 or HP-2 speaker. Not even Roland's own website. Weird... Does anyone know if Yamaha YDP 223 and Roland MP60 come w/ the bench? Some online stores indicate YDP w/ bench some didn't say. And Kraftmusic.com has a bundle package for Roland MP 60 w/ headphone and bench for $1475. All other sites didn't indicate if bench comes w/ either brand... Does anyone have experience w/ Kraftmusic.com?

I wouldn't place too much importance on "specs". A 20W speaker might sound better or even louder than a 25W speaker, etc. Go with your ears!!!
