I was wondering if anyone could recommend good headphones to a Yamaha CLP-150? I'm thinking of buying the CLP-150, but thought that there is no point in buying a quite expensive instrument if you don't match it with a pair of headphones that would to it justice. What price range are we then talking about?
I was mainly thinking about the piano part, no special sounds...so subwoofer would definitely be overkill \:\)

To be honest, if you look at a Sennheiser catalogue and buy the most expensive ones you're willing to pay for, you won't go wrong.

I'd be wary of getting Grados for this sort of thing. I own a pair and while the sound quality is excellent, they are very uncomfortable.

Thanks for the reply.

Ehrrm, maybe a better way to phrase my question would be: What is the cheapest headphone I can get in order to do the CLP-150 justice? The trick is, they don't sell headphones where they sell the piano...so I pretty much would have to guess.

Let me take an example: On my computer it is impossible to listen to music with one specific pair of SONY headphones (in the cheapest price range) because there is a constant noise (almost like white noise) in it. But when I switched to another pair (which weren't expensive at all...about 10 US dollars) the noise disappeared. What I'm very afraid of is if the CLP had the same "bug" as my computer. Does a random pair of headphones sound good (in their own price range of course)?

Probably the noise you heard was due to an impedance mis-match. Your piano probably has a low impedance output ( 50 to 100 ohms ) while your headphones might be about 10,000 ohms ( or just the reverse).
