Well, I called the local Yamaha dealer today, and they told me they could get me the 230 for $2000 after tax (the guy that told me $2695 was just quoting me the MSRP). He also told me that if I really wanted a deal, he could get me the 150 for the same price, since it is a closeout model. Now, I know the 150 is an older model, and it doesn't have the GH3 keyboard. It looks like it has a better sound system, though than the 230. He said the 230 is an updated 120 model, and the 150 is still better.

Any recommendations between these two or any other models? Keep in mind, my budget is under 2K. I'm not interested too much in all the bells and whistles. What interests me most is sound quality and feel. The closer to a real piano on both aspects, the better.

Of course, I know I need to go look at these, but I want to have an idea of what I'm looking at before I go in.

tough question. i'd hesitate on either too if i were looking at the same models. i do like GH3 action better, but for other things, i'd go for CLP150. maybe you could choose CLP170 instead then...

He said the 170 is $3500, which is a little out of my price range. frown

I tried a GH3 next to the regular GH keyboard today and thought the difference was huge.

Thanks, I just may do that! Anybody know of any other places to order these things from?

That's a great price. My local Yamaha dealer was doing a road show at Costco over the weekend. The Costco price of a CLP-230 is $1,899 + tax. So your price even beats the Costco price. Do you know how much they charge for a CLP-240?

Where did you get a price of 2000 for the Yamaha CLP-150? I want to know! The VA House of Music is quoting $2169 for the CLP-240 but someone has to go there in person to make the purchase according to Yamaha rules, then they can ship it to you. I called them last week.

Does anyone know how much the CLP130 differs from the other Clavinova models as far as sound quality and features(150,170 etc...)??
