I was looking at a Clavinova CLP 115 and a guy said Viscount had the same piano samples and more features for less money. It was a non dealer at NAMM who worked in guitar sales. I can't find anything at all on the net about Viscount and wondered what they were about. Sounds a lot like Discount (I know it's Italian). Also, a guy at Guitar Center said Yamaha only let's real piano stores sell Clavinova's and they make the YDP line for them instead. The YDP223 looks and feels like the CLP but is 3 or 4 hundred bucks cheaper. Does Yamaha just put the Clavinova name on the same piano and charge a bit extra? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

If you don't get an answer here you might wander over to the Keyboard Magazine ( musicplayer.com )online forum and contact Mike Martin who works for Yamaha in the US. If he can not answer your question he will forward it to someone who can.

The CLP has many models, with different options, which you would want to compare very carefully (www.yamaha.com) because the specs never say "doesnt have xxxx". Instead specs simply dont mention what it doesnt have. The CLP115 has 32 tone polyphony, comparing to the YDP113. The CLP120 has 64 tones, with similar specs as the YDP223. The CLP130 has 64, but adds dynamic sampling, comparing to the P120 portable, but has the furniture and larger speaker/amplifiers. search www.google.com for vicount keyboard and you will find it under those key words (but the word piano pretty much misses it). Dont know what it is.

Hi there, For Viscount Pianos, try web page Kinda hard to find dealers in U.S. Said to be popular brand in Europe. One thing I notice is differences in amplification between YDP and Clavinovas. Other than that, not that much different to me(giving same specs). Oh..Clavinovas have better finish too(keys, cabinet, etc).
