I hope you guys can advise me.

I am currently looking at purchasing a CP300. BAsically I am classically trained pianist and will be practising classical works on the keyboard.

I am looking to get as close to a piano as possible in terms of touch, sound, action, etc.

Is the CP300 suited to replacing my old upright piano to practice / perform / record on? I need a keyboard that will handle most things that my current upright cannot: fast acion for repeated notes the like of Liszt, etc. In other words, a 'grand piano' in the form of a digital.

Any advise, especially from classical pianists, and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Wes

Hi there, I have a cp300 being delivered tomorrow and I'll come back here for my opinion of it.

I know this is splitting hairs here but I do think the language we use is important for managing our expectations. Personally, I am not expecting it to "replace" a good acoustic piano but I am expecting it to be a very good "substitute" for one.

From what you've stated you're wanting though, I have a feeling the cp300 is going to be as good of a choice as you could make without being able to actually try it out first (ideal). I'm working from home tomorrow so I don't miss the delivery again.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have seen the CP300 at both Guitar Center and Sam Ash Music. If you have either nearby, you can give it a try for yourself. You may get a better deal ordering online, though, if you decide to get one.

I finally received my Yamaha CP300 - took delivery of it almost a week back.

I am still reading the manual to get to grips with all the technology. So far I can say froma classcal perspective that I am highly impressed! WIth the exception being that I had to fork out another R1500 [$250] for the LP3 stand - the x-frame stand is useless and caused the keyboard to wobble badly.

There is SO much to discover on this keyboard; the possibilities are endless.

I will be posting a decent review in time. I am thrilled and have not gone back to my ailing upright since.
