I am planning to buy Roland HP 201. I have seen it in the shop, tried it, it seems good (correct me if I am wrong). The only thing that is confusing me is that PHAII keyboard. In printed brochure I collected from my local dealer it is stated that model 201 does not have PHAII keyboard, but only PHA. Then, when I go to internet and browse, specifications say that HP201 do have PHAII. Would anyone know what is the right answer to this mystery? And also, how important that PHAII ? I have never used digital piano before.

Dear Majaklavir, Yes, the Roland HP-201 does have PHAII keyboard, if it is not the one with escapement of the HP-207. It is stated at Roland site that it's a more sensitive keyboard - should be more responsive and allow more expressive playing, noticeable with subtle passages. My guess, I didn't test it. http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=872&ParentId=40 Best regards, Andrés.

The HP-201 would be a fine instrument, and the difference between PHA and PHA II-- whatever that is--would be slight. But I think the Hemingway pianos on that Thomann website are much more interesting--and much less expensive. These are, of course, economy, Asian-made models with an interesting name attached to them, but that's not necessarily bad. Digital piano technology is so well-established now, that even economy digitals have good performance. These should be pretty good instruments, and great conversation starters: "What kind of piano do you have? A Hemingway. A what? I've got to see this!"

According to a german Catalogue:
HP201 has the PHA alpha II keyboard, which is also used in the FP4 and RP101.
The HP203 ha2 the PHA II keyboard with escapement.
The FP7 has the PHA II keyboard with no info on escapement. I guess it does not have it.
