Am interested in learning more about"intelligent" digital piano features. Most of what I've seen on the web seem to be associated with Roland. Wondering if anyone knows of a more comprehensive source that describes the various kinds of features available i.e. I read someplace that you can scan your music right into the lcd screen and play it from there (bookless) This feature will automatically move the pages as you play etc. Also, there seem to be some features that may be quite good for those "learning" the keyboard/piano i.e. read that there is a feature that will slow down the music to your pace, hightlight the music, and will not move ahead without you (or something like that). In any event, anyone know of a "list" of such features with adequate explanations etc. Thanks

I've owned both Roland KR series and Yamaha CVP series "intelligent" pianos. Both of them have extensive features for automatic accompaniment, automatic chording, jamming, etc. Both will display a score on their small LCD screens, but it's very hard to read and I don't find it particularly useful. (Paper still rules!) Yamaha may be marginally better. Yamaha does have a "guide light" feature (small red lamps over each key) that can be used to help learn how to play - I haven't used it because I've played for some years but beginners might like it. It will "wait" for you to play the right note before going on.

All Midi pianos can vary the tempo and transpose the key, and do other tricks that are more or less useful. On balance I think the Yamahas are "smarter" with those features, but different people will have different preferences. I don't know of any general reference guide on such features, but Yamaha at least has their manuals online for download at

Forgot to add - there's an excellent user group for Yamaha digital pianos, particularly the CVP "intelligent" series, at

www.cvpug.com

I don't know of any equivalent for Roland, Technics, etc.
