Hi folks, this is my first post, I'm new to the music world. I just bought an electronic piano (Casio CTK-495) for my wife and she doens't know how to read music notation, so I wonder to know if there is an 'alternate' method, using a more ' traditional nation, like: 01, 55, 39, 45 (the key's position) I can remember a Casio VL-1 (Casiotone), a tiny electronic mini-microkeyboard with songs listed in that way (referencing the keyboard's key).
One way she might be able to start learning some songs quickly that will also help her to begin to learn standard notation as well is Hal Leonard's EZ Play course. It just shows the melody line and has the name of the note written inside of it. Then it has a key name written in a box above the music, which is used to tell you what chord or note to play with the left hand. It works very well for those instruments with automated accompaniments.
I know this isn't the best method, but she only wants to start to play some songs. The device have 100 built in songs, but they sound so different to our tryies ... so I think we need to start from the beginning.
She doesn't have time to go a music school (at least for the next months), and of course, she wants to start enjoying.
I'm sorry if this post doesn't belong to this forum, I looked for a forum for Casio keyboards but I didn't it.
Thanks in advance for any inputs,
