I think there's a little bit of a misconception here. Not all PA4 or PA5 actions are the same. They're similar in design/technology, but the implementation in each model results in some variety in performance. In other words, the FP5 and RD700, which both have PA5 action don't have the same feel. I'm afraid that the only way to find out what's really going to work for you is to spend some quality time with each keyboard.

Thanks Steve,
Yes, my friend told me that same thing, that the "PA4" and "PA5" are not really the same from model to model.
The FP2 uses what they call the new "Newly Designed Progressive Hammer-Action" which is not similar at all to the other "PA4" or "PA5" types.

The FP2 uses what they call the new "Newly Designed Progressive Hammer-Action" which is not similar at all to the other "PA4" or "PA5" types. I wouldn't really call it dissimilar either. Though it's a fine product, the FP2 is not exactly the flagship Roland keyboard. The action in the Fantom X8 (or even the Fantom S88 or XV88) for that matter are similar if not superior. I think you're getting too hung up on labels. Just try the keyboard. If you like the action, then it's a good choice for you.

I am not sold on the sound yet. I will need to play it some more thru the PA I use, I have only played it with high end Sony headphones and the pianos and Rhodes sounded much less than ideal.
