Hi guys, I'm just starting to play the piano, and I recently bought a DXG-505. Do you think this will be sufficient in order to learn more contemporary music for something like a rock band, or should I save up soon for a different model?

DXG505 doesn't have weighted keyboard as pianos or digital pianos do. so, if your goal is playing for fun, it would be ok, but it's not going to be suitable for playing classical music at intermediate and above level. have fun though!

Well actually, I haven't paid YET. Was going to finish payment tomorrow. What is the price difference usually between the 505 and the P600?

As I am from Canada, I am not sure of the US price difference.....Google it...see what you come up with. If you want a piano action the Yamaha P60 will be good.

Rethinking my options. I'm now thinking of buying the DGX-505 again. The reason for this is I'm actually more interested in synthesizing, and the options which it has. I'm more interested in playing contemporary rock music, and coming up with my own type of music. Would this be more suited for this as far as a beginners, synthezier type of keyboard?

You may consider a look at the new Roland Juno-D if you want something with synth features. Or any of the RS series as well. I have tried most of them.
Great sounds, nice intuitive synth functions. And a VERY COMPETITIVE PRICE! (here in Canada anyways) I can't speak for the USA but I would imagine it is competitive there as well! check it out! http://www.zzounds.com/item--ROLJUNOD on this site its $30 CHEAPER than the DGX505!

Hi Jordy, if my memory serves me right the DGX505 is $679, P60 is $799 in my local Costco. Both comes with stand, sustain pedal, and bench.
