Anybody have experience comparing the two?
It seems that the only difference is the portability, and maybe the half-pedal effect. The Yamaha website said the PF500 has the half-pedal, how about the P250?
How about the sound the feel? Any difference?

I am leaning towards getting the P250 because it 'looks' more portable (it looks to me that both weight about the same, but the P250 can rest on a portable stand.) But I am also concerned about the sound and the feel. If there is no difference, I will go with the P250.

I've wondered too. All I know is the Yamaha specificiations, which do seem extremely similar, but there are some minor differences in the specs.

The PF500 spec says speakers are 2x16cm 2x5cm
and the P250 says 2x13cm (and it weighs very slightly less, less stand).

The PF500 says 38 preset voices, and the P250 says 45 presets (both have XG too). The extra appears in the manual to generally be additional variations of GP1, GP2 voices ??

I have heard that they are almost exactly the same except for case, stand, and pedals. I know that the action is the same. I believe that the sound is the same, too. As far as I could tell when looking into this myself recently (I bought a p250) they have exactly the same feature set that the pf500 has a metronome while the p250's metronome function is only part of the recording feature.

I bought the p250 because it was about $200 cheaper and I didn't really care for the look of the pf500. However, if I had to do it again, I might have got the pf500 because of the metronome and the stand. The p250 is so tall that when it sits on many general purpose keyboard stands at the lowest position it still sits a few inches too tall. You have to spend another $150 - $200 to get a stand made by yamaha for the p250. The pf500 comes with a stand which I assume puts it at the proper height.

Thanks for the info. Do you know what is the model number for the P250 Stand? It is one of those foldable stands, not wooden, right?

If you go to any online music retailer they should have the stand as an accessory if you lookup the p250. Try music123.com, musiciansfriend.com, musiciansbuy.com, etc...

Forgot to mention: if you are cheap (like me) and already have an X-stand (I did), you may be able to cut another notch in it to lower it a few inches. I did this and got my p250 down to about 27.5 inches (I was shooting for 28.25) from about 31.5.

My PF500 is at the proper piano height and great to play as is, but it would be heavy to use as a portable (I think about 30 kg without stand, 42 with). I use it as a home piano.

The P250 is about the same weight - it's HEAVY.

The quik-lok ws-550 is nice, compact and very sturdy. It's also height adjustable and reasonably cheap (got mine for 115CAN)

It has half-pedalling, according to the manual.
