After trying some of the brands and models out there I have decided to buy a Yamaha since I like very much the touch and sound, especially when selecting the harpsichord. The touch es fantastic also when releasing the keys...(with the CLP-330 and CLP-340)

I would go for a CLP-280 but since my budget is significantly lower I was thinking of CLP-340 or CLP-370. The difference is just the Natural Wood keyboard. But does it really make a big difference in terms of touch???

Thanks

The CLP-370 also has the NW keyboard, where as the CLP-340 has the GH3 keyboard, which is the same action as the NW keyboard but with plastic keys instead of wood.

Both actions are fully weighted and have Synthetic Ivory keytops.

How much difference does it make? I can't answer that one for you. That is down to the individual. Only you can make that decision for you.

Hi,

the CLP-340 model is equipped with a GH3 keyboard with synthetic ivory keytops while the CLP-370 has the same keyboard as the 280 but with synthetic ivory keytops and three sensors instead of two.
I've tried both keyboards. In my opinion the NW's touch is somehow a little bit harder.

Correction: also the new GH3 is equipped with the 3rd sensor (the damper one).

The OP should consider that "harder" doesn't mean better or worse in a general sense (though petrarca might have an opinion in mind). I think many feel that there is a noticeable difference, however, like Glaswegian says whether the additional cost for the NW is worthwhile is completely up to you (or even if the difference is positive or negative).

Ditto the synth ivory, I've heard folks who don't like it, folks who love it, and folks that don't care. Again, up to you.

I have the CLP 340 and a repeatedly have tried the NW on the 370.

Personally I really couldn't tell the difference. I was quite happy paying the extra £200 if I could sense the slightest benefit of feel - but I just couldn't.

I even tried it again a few days ago.....but just couldn't feel any difference in the sensations.

My suggestion as always is, try it for yourself.

Mark

I tried both and didn't actually feel the difference so I will go for the CLP-340. The NW Kawai was better than the Yamaha I think, though.
