I finally selected (and purchased) my digital piano. Thanks for all your help!

I purchased a Yamaha P-90. If you recall, I looked at the Roland FP-2, FP-5 and RD-170 and the Yamaha P series.

Turns out, the FP-2 was more expensive than the P-120. I couldn't quite figure this out. After studying the manual (which you can download from Roland but not print), I discovered that it will produce in excess of 300 voices (sounds). The P-90 only has 24 (the P-120 has 28!).

So, I reviewed my "list" of requirements and the P-90 really came out on top. The action (feel of the keyboard) was top on my list. I like the feel of the Yamahas better than the FPs. The RD-170 was tempting, but ... I don't know - something about it wasn't quite right. I didn't need speakers, and the P-90 is slightly smaller.

So I basically went with the most piano I could afford - I was tempted to buy the P-120, but I really don't need speakers, the P-90 is smaller and it runs on 12V DC (the P-120 uses 16V) - so I can run it off a car battery - for camping!

FWIW, I got it at Guitar Center - they were asking $999.99 but I got them to take $899.99 (US).

Anyway - I just got it, so we'll see how it goes.
