Hello everyone! I'm new to the forums. Nice to meet you all. I wanted to purchase a digital piano with about $600 and I found that the yamaha p65 and p70 were in my price range. While comparing the two, I was unable to see the difference between them. Which do you prefer? Does one have a better sound than the other? I only plan to use it for the piano sound so the one with the more realistic piano sound and feel would be my top priority. Can you please help me? Thank you.

From a brief comparison, it looks like P-70 supports half-continuous pedals. Look HERE .

In your price range I would also suggest to consider new Casio PX-200, which offers quite a bit more for the money if you are willing to trade off Yamaha's name and reliability.

I've got the P70 - as does my teacher. It's wonderful and should last you a long time. I compared it to the higher end pianos and still kept coming back to this because of the amazing sound.

Thank you very much for everybody's feed back. It was very helpful. I keep reading on reviews that the p70 does not provide enough power in their speakers. Has this ever been an issue with anybody?

You may want to use the comparison tool available at http://music.yamaha.com.

Additionally, I believe the P-70 has Yamaha’s relatively new 3-year warranty, while the P-65 has a 1-year warranty.
