Hi everyone. This is my very first post. I've been reading this forum almost everyday for the past few weeks and it's the most informative site I've found.

Here is my dilemma. I want to learn to play the piano, I’ve read just about all the information on the Rd700sx and the FP-7 in this forum. I want to learn to play classical music and I would like to get something that will allow me to play the acoustic piano without to much trouble if and when I make the transition.

I’ve never played the piano or any other instruments but I want to play the piano so much that it is all I am thinking about. I’ve been to the local Guitar Center and tried just about everything they have. I do notice the difference in the way the keys feel between the keyboards, but everything seems new to me now so it doesn’t make a difference yet. I still don’t have the ear for the sound just yet so I don’t know what to listen for. I just want the best feeling and sounding keyboard for the money.

I’ve narrowed my choices between the two listed above. The cost will be the same for me initially. I can get a new FP-7 for $1500 shipped to my house or a new but used for about 1 month from someone I know for about $1600. With the RD I still have to get monitors and a stand. I am willing to spend the extra money to get the additional equipment if necessary.

Please help me out. There are so many knowledgeable people that read this forum and from what I’ve read, there is nowhere else I want to go for advice. The people at the GC in Northern VA are clueless.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

Get the FP7. Its feel and is more pianistic and as you are a learner the FP7 is loaded with features to support your playing.

The speakers are pretty good and you can realy crank them up by increasing the Gain from 0 (normal setting )to 10db.

I didnt know this before
mine arrived but this is a neat thing as my last DP (ES4) had speakers that were a bit too quiet.

(BTW I have owned the RD previously too)
