I'm thinking of getting a px310 to keep at work for a lunchtime practice...thing is I just read a strange thing on a review - it said that the internal speakers stayed on even with the headphones in. Can anyone second that? It sounds a bit suspect to me...

I think I've read that the internal speakers stay on when external speakers hooked up via the line out connection. But the speakers should turn off when the headphone jack is used.

My PX310 turns off the speakers when you connect in a headphone.

Thanks guys! The review must have been talking about the line out thing but wasn't very clear about it.

Looks like it's a go! smile

You might also want to consider the PX200. It is priced fairly similarly, and is a newer model with a keyboard that most people like more.

I did look at the PX200 but I'm looking second & ebay at the moment and in that arena the difference is pretty big. If I have to go new I'll definitely look at it but I'm just trying to keep costs down as it's only for spare half hours at work.

Cheers

From the looks of it, you won't actually save money by buying off of e-bay. The going rates for the px-310 and px-200 are not as good as you can get from websites such as music123.com. For instance, with their current sale for $100 off a $500 purchase you can get the px-200 for $400 shipped.

I have my P90 at work to practice at lunch. You didn't ask about this, but you might consider getting a keyboard without speakers so there is no chance of drawing attention by having other people hear you. Depends on the work environment, but I wanted to be able to say that I could never cause a disturbance because the piano is incapable of making sound. I bought mine used for $350 with a case, and like it better than my P140 which I bought new for $1000.
