Hello all, my first post. I have the cp33 connected to a desktop computer running Sonar 7, FL Studio, Ableton Live, etc, and can't seem to have any success using the yamaha midi/usb connection. I have no inboard sound, only the M-audio firewire 410 for sound.

I have read of many happy with this usb cable, perhaps there is a setting i can adjust, but with the generic midi driver from yamaha, I can't find it.

Please, and thank you in advance for any help.

Get/make sure ASIO drivers are enabled for your audio card.

is there an asio control panel? or is the enabling you are referring to in the application being used?

perhaps i am blind, but the yamaha midi control panel does not offer asio anything, and i can't find the settings elsewhere.

Never mind - I thought you are using some sort of an external audio card.

It does seem like a configuration issue.

Try going into Sonar and see if you can change any options as far as sound source etc. Anything that mentions ASIO.

Maybe I don't understand what it is that you are trying to do, but the midi/usb cable doesn't cary any audio signal. I carries midi data only. Typical application is for recording in a midi sequencer program. 'midi out' from the keyboard goes to the computer where it is recorded and then looped back to 'midi in' of the keyboard. The keyboard plays the sound through the same monitoring path you use for normal play. For best results 'local control' should be off in the keyboard so when you press a key it doesn't go directly to the sound generator, but through the computer.

You should be looking for ASIO options for your m-audio firewire 410 device.

Check out this link for how to set up Sonar:
