Last night I purchased my first Digital Piano. For years had a German upright piano which finally had its day. (actually had its day a few years ago)

I bought a Yamaha CVP -206. I looked hard at the CVP- 208 and the 204 and although the 208 had the nicer color screen and a few more features I could not see spending the extra money for it. The CVP- 206 is new and cost me $3950 delivered before tax. (The 208 would have been a bit over $5,000) It had much better sound than the 204 and the built in microphone and USB port etc.....

Was that a fair price?

I did some homework and saw cheaper prices on the Internet but shipping charges were high and some of the firms were overseas.

I had spent a few months looking at and playing the Roland KR-5 (about $5,500) and even looking at the KR-7 which I thought was too expensive and had more bells and whistles than I needed. The Roland dealer here was pretty inflexible on price offering only a small discount.

The old upright (70 years old and rebuilt in 1985) I had needs a lot of work and can hopefully be restored for someone and be used. I would not dare sell it to a private owner for it needed professional tlc. They will take it away as part of the deal and either try to fix it or not.

I guess I was just looking for some feedback here. I truly liked the Yamaha more than the Roland (feel and features)and felt like the investment would be protected in the long run in case I ever sell it or upgrade it.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

CVP line is similar to CLP line, except with more functions other than just piano focused (as on CLP). so, you are paying more for those extra functions. is there any reason for you not to consider a CLP?

The CLP line lacked a few things I thought were appropriate for me.....CVP has the rhythm accompaniments, The Guide (for new players like my wife and rusty ones like me)which helps you "follow the bouncing ball and lights) to learn songs etc........I think Karaoke is also possible on the CVP......I like orchestral sound and hearing rhythm some days and other days not....You own one?
