OK, I may be opening a can of worms here, but is anybody else curious about the new digitals coming out from Behringer?
They are calling them the Eurogrand series. 4 models - EG540 List $589.99 USD EG1040 List $739.99 USD EG2080 List $879.99 USD EG8080 List $2209.99 USD
There is a local music store here that just has tons of Behringer stuff and he says he's getting one of the low end and the top end as soon as they are available.
I've used Behringer stuff in the past and it's always been a crap shoot as to quality. I've got a Behringer amplifier head for my bass guitar that I love, and a headphone amp/mixer that I like a lot. Other stuff I've used has either been a Boob (Broken out of box) or quite within a couple months.
I know that Behringer's list prices (USD) are almost exactly double what dealer cost is, so street prices should fall somewhere in the middle. Zzounds is showing the 2080 for $599.99 USD (free shipping) when they come available.
Just wondering is there is any interest...

Right now I'm trying to find reviews on the 2080 but haven't seen anything so far. I'm trying to decide on whether to purchase the 2080 for $600 or to save up for the Yamaha YDP223 which goes for about $1600. The features for both seem almost the same, which leaves me wondering what Behringer did to cut the costs. While I like the pricing of the 2080, I'd rather pay the extra $1000 if it gives me a better quality instrument.

I'm going togo try it out as soon as he gets them in. Last week he said it'd be a couple months.

I saw them when I was looking for a digital at the beginning of the year, but couldn't wait for them to come out.
I liked the price.
I have a few bits of behringer gear (compressor, DI box, mixer, small practice amp) and have had no problems with any of them. From what I've read there do seem to be some issues with quality control so I'd just make sure it was easy to return the unit, or even better, try the one you will take home in the store first.
Bnag for your buck, behringer is hard to beat on just about all their products.

You may be able to get the YDP-223 for much less than $1600 US. At Guitar Center, they had it listed at $1495, and the dude made me "an offer I couldn't refuse" of $1350. I refused...

All I know about Behringer is that I am very disappointed with $100 Behringer headphones I own. The materials are cheap, and the plastic cracked on both sides. They fit so[/b] uncomfortably. And most important, I detest there sound. No better then $10 cans. A genuine piece of garbage. Thats to my headphones. I don’t have personal experience with other products of them, so I can’t say too much. But I'm definately not tempted to look into there Digital pianos.

I think a lot of those budget DP's are from the same factory in China, they seem to use similar model numbers, i.e. 2080, 8080, 8800, 8826, etc. Here\'s an example . I did read somewhere that they were copies of early Roland DP's.

Mani, I bought my first digital piano, a rather expensive Korg console, in a store in 1989 for $1700. My neighbor now has it and it's still in perfect condition and plays not much different from today's digitals. It would be considered totally obsolete today with its 16 note polyphony, but you can play anything on it, from jazz to the most difficult classical music. Moreover, the circuitry and software to emulate an acoustic piano has been around for more than 30 yrs., so today, digital piano technology is widespread and well- established.
Behringer digitals have not exactly set the digital piano world on fire, probably because of the company's reputation for bargain basement pricing; and the digital piano market is well-established with many makers and so it's hard for a new brand to make a big dent in it, particularly when their products offer less than state of the art technology. But this is typical with Behringer products: they offer adequately-performing gear at rock bottom prices, which appeals to buyers on a very tight budget who are just looking for something that will perform adequately.
I don't see any problem with getting that $499 Behringer from Costco. It's probably priced so low because it uses technology from a few years ago, but even digitals from 20 yrs. or more ago performed well, so this is not a problem. Moreover, Costco sells inexpensive stuff, but they're careful not to sell junk, so this should be a perfectly good piano for any kind of playing.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I was looking at eBay Australia out of curiosity today and found these Behringer Baby Grands (towards the end of the page), and I was wondering if anyone has an update concerning the quality of Behringer digital pianos... Thanks, CA

On several other audio forums, people routinely disparage Behringer equipment for its low quality. I cannot personally vouch for that. Just repeating what I've read elsewhere.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I was looking at eBay Australia out of curiosity today and found these Behringer Baby Grands (towards the end of the page), and I was wondering if anyone has an update concerning the quality of Behringer digital pianos... Thanks, CA I bought one of those Behringer console style DP (one of the earlier models, CDP 1000 or something like that) at Costco for $499 back in August 2007. After more than 2.5 years now, it still functions OK. It gets used about a couple of hours a day since the last year or so. I think I ran into a sticky key or two a year or more ago but then the problem just went away. I don't think it gets any big points for quality sound or quality feel, but at least it's been functioning reliably for me. But still, 2.5 years is a very short time so far, so the jury is still out. At least you hope that if there are problems, it would happen by now. For that kind of money, all I can hope for is that it will hold up as long as it can.

Thanks, CA Gyro is right when he said "I don't see any problem with getting that $499 Behringer from Costco. It's probably priced so low because it uses technology from a few years ago, but even digitals from 20 yrs. or more ago performed well, so this is not a problem." But this is a $2,700 Behringer. Why would people pay that price when same money would get you a good name brand DP. I can fully understand why some one on a $500 budget would buy a budget brand. If what you want is piano shaped furniture at a low price that look at this: $1,299 Grand Piano Ive seen and touched this. It's a $500 piano in a $800 case. It has very nice shiny black polyester paint and actually does not look cheap.
