hello to all you real piano players,,,i have been pecking at it for several years, and i always sing when i play,i also play pedal steel guitar, and set up piano and steel at the same time,i do mostly country,it is a little hard to play piano with finger picks on, also i play a yamaha DGX 305 non weighted keyboard,i thing the piano sounds good, been laying carpet for 23 years,my hands hurt too much to play weighted keys,,anyone else have anything in common with me, or am i just an odd ball? this is a great forum, thanks.

to me nothing is like playing on weighted keyboard. i started from a keyboard, even worse one than yours, but it didn't take me long for me to realize how thin the sound of it was and how little control i could have over a keyboard without weight. so, i got a piano last year, and it just take me one year or less for me to realize my skills have improved greatly, i.e. from a beginner to an intermediate player. there's no standard for me to really measure it, but it's the feeling of ease over keys, greater control of touch and shortened learning time among other things to tell me exactly that. so, go figure, if you see my experience...
