Yamaha CP33 Loud Internal Hammer Sound

So I've had the CP33 for about a year now and have had no problems with it. I purchased it because I liked both the sounds and the action. Just recently I've noticed that the keys are making a louder thudding sound when struck and seems the board is vibrates a bit more, some keys thud louder than others. Like something shifted internally or something. I have it on a basic Proline X stand that I've never really been to happy about. Anyways, it's become very frustrating the last couple of days, anyone out there have a similar experience or any suggestions on what can be done about this?
Thanks Bird

Well, a cheap x stand isn't going to be ideal for a heavy beast like the CP33. It is supposed to be a sturdy piano though, so unless you've got a secret team of roadies chucking it about while you're out of the room ... it's difficult to think what you might have done to damage its insides. Have you tried placing it on a solid surface, like a table and seeing if it still thunks?

Could this be another case of "wobbly keys" like a recent thread started a couple of months ago regarding the Casio PX-200...wherein the hammer mechanism had gotten loose due to constant usage? If so, then "wobbly keys" may not only be attributable to some Casio PX-200 units but to Yamaha's CP33 as well.

I'd second the recommendation to put it on a solid surface and rule out something going on with the stand. If it still has a problem take it to a service center, or back to dealer if that's where you bought it. The only crazy thing that I've come across with my DP relates to the cleaning lady. My wife has her business in our home, so she has a woman come in and clean. I noticed one time when I started practicing that the keys felt really slippery. The cleaning lady had sprayed furniture wax on the keys to polish them! I asked her to please never touch the keyboard, or spray it with anything. I have a sign that I leave on the keyboard that says don't touch. If you have a cleaning lady (or kids) you might see if something ended up in the keyboard that shouldn't be there.

Cool thanks guys. I put it on the floor and it does seem to help. Although there are still a couple keys in the bottom and top octaves that sound funky. But I may just be overly paranoid at this point. The cleaning lady had sprayed furniture wax on the keys to polish them! I asked her to please never touch the keyboard, She still has a job? You're a kind man. I'm going to pick up one of those Z stands. I've never felt comfortable having such a heavy keyboard on the X stand anyway. Anyone have a stand they especially like? Thanks for the advice guys! Bird

The QuikLok Z716L would be a good choice - it's quite big, but has extra width to keep everything stable. You can add extras to the stand, extra level, music stand etc etc. I would say though that if you opted for the two tier Z726L you not only get a second level, but the accessory rail at the back adds additional strength.
